DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN AUCKLAND

Upon arrival in Auckland, meet a local representative and transfer to the hotel by bus. Travellers, who have chosen the self-drive option, will receive their rented cars at the airport, from where they can drive to the hotel. Auckland, known as the ‘City of Sails’, is a major transport hub, and one of the largest cities in New Zealand. With various adventurous sports enjoyable at just a short driving distance from the luxurious hotels, the place is a popular holiday destination. On reaching the hotel, check-in and rest.

DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING IN AUCKLAND – CITY TOUR WITH SKY TOWER ENTRANCE AND HARBOUR CRUISE

Discover first-hand why Auckland is regarded as one of the best places in the world to live, with a half-day tour of its scenic highlights. Travel through the city centre, including Auckland’s famous Queen Street, Karangahape Road with its chequered past and eclectic vibe and fashionable Ponsonby. Cross over the Auckland Harbour Bridge, enjoying views of the Hauraki Gulf and city skyline, and visit the Viaduct Harbour and the revitalised Silo Park waterfront precinct. See historic buildings around the University of Auckland before continuing over Grafton Bridge to the Auckland Domain. The Domain is the city’s oldest park and, at 75 hectares, one of its largest. Developed around an extinct volcano, it features tropical gardens, duck ponds and public art, and is also home to the Auckland War Memorial Museum. After visiting the Domain, the tour continues through the boutique shopping area of Parnell Village, where you will make a brief morning tea stop, and along the scenic waterfront route of Tamaki Drive. Just above Mission Bay is one of the scenic highlights of your tour: Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park. Named after one of New Zealand’s most revered Prime Ministers, the park, with its formal gardens and tranquil atmosphere, offers stunning views over the picturesque Eastern Bays, Auckland city and the Waitemata Harbour. Your Auckland city tour ends with a trip back along the waterfront, finishing in downtown Auckland. ( Please check if we can include sky tower visit & entrance & Harbour Cruise)

DAY 03: AUCKLAND – WAITOMO CAVES ENTRANCE – ROTORUA

Post breakfast, leave Auckland and drive to Waitomo via the heavily cultivated fields of the Waikato region. About 195 km from the City of Sails, the Waitomo district is visited by tourists because of its remarkable caves. On reaching Waitomo, explore Waitomo Glowworm Caves. These caverns are adorned with amazing stalactite and stalagmite formations in various shapes and sizes. The reason that these caves are more popular than the others is the charm added by bioluminescent insects that reside here. Enjoy a boat ride on the stream that flows through the caves, and later continue to Rotorua. Situated on the shores of the namesake lake, Rotorua is famous for pools of mud and roaring geysers. A trip to this town also allows you to familiarise with the culture of the Maoris – the indigenous people of New Zealand. Upon arrival in Rotorua, transfer to the hotel for a good night’s sleep.

DAY 04: SIGHTSEEING IN ROTORUA

After a healthy breakfast, begin a sightseeing excursion to explore some prominent tourist attractions in the region.

First, move to Te Puia Geothermal Fields to witness some marvellous natural phenomena. The site houses the well-known Pohutu Geyser, which explodes about 20 times a day and throws scalding water to a height of around 30 metres. Thereafter, move to Rainbow Springs to explore the diverse wildlife present here. This establishment is stretched in about 22 acres of land, and is home to several species of birds, lizards and fish. This wildlife park is known for the conservation of kiwis – the national bird of New Zealand. At the bird show organised here, see exotic parrots play games and perform tricks for your entertainment. Another highlight of this park is the tuataras that are found in this country only. The creatures are endemic to New Zealand and often mistaken as relating to dinosaurs or lizards.

From here, travel to Agrodome to enjoy a farm show.

At about 10 minutes drive from Rotorua town, Agrodome is a farm and a popular tourist attraction because of the show it hosts. This show features numerous breeds of sheep and dogs that are trained to obey the commands of their handlers. The audience can also move on to the stage to get up-close with the animals. Feed some milk to lambs or try hand-milking a cow.

In the evening, savour a lavish dinner, comprising dishes cooked in the traditional Maori way. The Maori people dig pits in the ground and cook food inside them using hot stones. With the meal, also enjoy a folk performance by the locals and further familiarise with their culture. After the feast, transfer to the hotel and rest.

DAY 05: ROTORUA TO CHRISTCHURCH

Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel and transfer to Rotorua Regional Airport to board the flight to Christchurch (flight ticket is at your expense). A major city in New Zealand, Christchurch is often termed as the gateway to New Zealand’s South Island. On arrival at Christchurch International Airport, transfer to the hotel to rest. Arrive in Christchurch, the Garden City of New Zealand, and meet the tour representative. Travel to your hotel from the airport and spend the evening at your leisure. Be it the transitional Cardboard Cathedral, pop-up restaurants, bars, contemporary art galleries, boutique shops, or the open-air markets; there is something for everyone in this city. Over 150 years old, award winning Botanic gardens in Christchurch boast of exotic plants. Edwardian punt rides through Avon River, and a ride on the historic tram are the best ways to spend a day at Christchurch. International Antarctic Centre and Orana Wildlife Park are other must-see places when you are here. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 06: CHRISTCHURCH – FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER VIA GREYMOUTH

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel before you board the TranzAlpine Train to reach Greymouth. One of the best ways to explore the area, the scenic train journey often becomes one of the most loved experiences of a traveler taking this package. Travel over Canterbury Plains, passing lush beech forest and alpine village of Arthur’s Pass. From Greymouth, head south to reach the Glacier Region. New Zealand is rich with many stunning glaciers, offering you the spectacular views of valleys covered in ice. From mountains to the sea, this is a perfect spot for adventure, relaxation, or exploration. Return to the hotel after the adventurous day for an overnight stay.

DAY 07: FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER – QUEENSTOWN

This morning, after breakfast, head to Queenstown. Travel past the forest, lakes, and mountains of Glacier Region and Lake Wanaka to reach the Alpine Resort in Queenstown. The town of Queenstown has cosmopolitan restaurants, vineyards, and five international-standard golf courses. Reach Queenstown in the evening and stay overnight at the hotel.

DAY 08: QUEENSTOWN – MILFORD SOUND – QUEENSTOWN

After a delicious breakfast, head to Milford Sound. Situated on the west coast of the South Island, Milford Sound offers you some spectacular views. Cruise through the fiord in the tender vessels and kayaks and witness the magnificent Mitre Peak. Explore the wonders of Milford Sound, including waterfalls, fur seals lazing on the rocks, and sea birds. Return to your hotel in Queenstown . Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 09: QUEENSTOWN – CITY TOUR WITH GONDOLA RIDE

On this day, after a hearty breakfast, travel to Queenstown. Start your city tour First stop is on the Queenstown Hill with spectacular panoramic views over the town centre, Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain Range. Next is a visit to the birth place of bungy jumping as we know it and home to the Bungy Dome, an 8 minute multi media show that allows passive bystanders to experience the thrill of bungy jumping without taking the leap. The Bungy Centre is a state of the art facility that offers grand stand viewing of the Kawarau Suspension Bridge and of the Bungy jumping platform. Then head to Gibbston Valley for some wine tasting and cheese tasting. Then onto Kawarau Gorge where a scene from ‘Lord of the Rings – Pillars of the Kings’ was filmed. To complete the highlights of the Queenstown area, visit the picturesque town of Arrowtown which retains its old world charm through careful preservation of its colourful history and colonial style architecture. ( Please include Gondola ride ) . After the end of this exciting day, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 10: QUEENSTOWN – MT. COOK

Check out from your hotel and head to Christchurch in the morning. Travel past Central Otago Plains and Lake Pukaki, before reaching Mount Cook. Mount Cook is home to some beautiful mountains and longest glaciers. With skyscraping peaks, glaciers, and permanent snow fields, this place is a visual treat. Once you reach Mount Cook, enjoy the optional activities like exploring the glaciers or taking a scenic flight to Mount Cook. Get a good night’s sleep in the comforts of your room and prepare for the final day of your holiday.

DAY 11: MT. COOK – CHRISTCHURCH

After the breakfast, begin your journey towards Christchurch from Mount Cook. Pass through Lake Tekapo and Canterbury Plains to reach the Garden City, Christchurch. Bordered by hills and the Pacific Ocean, Christchurch has a creative vibe with art galleries, open-air markets, and boutique shops. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 12: DEPARTURE CHRISTCHURCH

Your tour ends on this day. Head straight to Christchurch airport to board your flight for onward journey. Return home with some special memories from this exciting trip.
